Student Org Misconduct Process. 1) Referral Received: Office of Community Standards receives a referral from the complainant or other campus partner. OCS determines the referral could be a violation of The Student Code if true. 2) Outreach to Referring Party: Case Manager reaches out to the Referring Party requesting to meet to review the investigation process and gather more information on the alleged behaviors. 3) Information Gathering: Depending on the information in the referral, the Case Manager might take time to gather more information about the alleged behaviors before reaching out to the Organization. 4) Notice of Investigation: The Case Manager notifies the Student Organization and Organization's President about the allegations and requests to meet to review the investigation process and gather information on the alleged behaviors. 5) Interim Action: Interim action might be applied to the Organization during the investigation process. Any directives will be provided to the Organization through their President and to the Organization's home office (CFSD, Student Activities, etc.). 6) Meetings with Organization Members: The Case Manager meets with members of the Organization as needed to gather information about the alleged behaviors. Not all members might be asked to participate in the investigation. 7) Investigation Report and Outcome Recommendation: The Case Manager writes and investigation report that summarizes the relevant evidence related to the allegations. The report will include the Case Manager's findings for violations (if any) and any sanctions as applicable. 8) Findings Meetings: The Case Manager meets with the Organization President to review the outcome for the Organization. If agreeing with the outcome, the process ends here. 9) Hearing: The President of the Organization can request a hearing if not agreeing with the Case Manager's recommendations. A hearing will be scheduled where two Hearing Officers will review the investigation documentation and ask clarifying questions at the hearing. 10) Hearing Outcome: At the end of the hearing, the Hearing Officers will deliver their outcome for violations and sanctions, if any. The outcome will be given to the President of the Organization in writing. 11) Appeal Process: The President of the Organization has five business days to appeal the hearing outcome on 3 grounds, if choosing.The case file is sent to the appellate officer for review. Decisions of the appellate officer are final.
